Broadband Networking for Home and Business

As business and industry moves into the twenty first century, more and more applications are being conducted over the internet - not to mention the remote office connectivity needs and telecommuters!  What once was a luxury in the office has now became an absolute necessity.  More and more companies are using the internet as part of their daily business transactions.  Soon, many of the programs you use on your computer - such as Microsoft Word - will be available over the web.  Each of these situations create a definite need for high speed bandwidth - not to mention conventional internet activities such as anti virus updates, etc.

What options does the home or small business user have?

Broadband choices consist mainly of two technologies - Cable modems and DSL service.  Cable Internet service is offered by your cable television company.  Comcast.net serves the Paducah area, MCHSI.COM and Charter Communications serve Murray and Marshall County.  DSL internet service is provided over your telephone lines.  While DSL availability is more limited than cable, many areas in the region currently do have DSL service available.  You can plan to probably pay around fifty to one hundred dollars per month for service, depending on individual options such as Static IPs, etc.  We recommend obtaining a static IP if available from your service.

I don't know if I can afford it.  I hear it's really expensive.

Broadband service for offices runs approximately $75 dollars a month.  While at the beginning that might seem expensive, let's take a closer look.  Currently, you're probably spending close to $17.00 per month for dial up internet service.  You're also more than likely paying around $40.00 per month for the telephone line connected to the internet.  For an additional $18.00 per month, you can have complete high speed internet access.  There is simply no reason not to switch today.

I have broadband.  What now?

One of the advantages of broadband is that all of the computers in your home or office can share the connection, allowing all users high speed internet.  We have the ability to log, block, monitor, and audit all internet activity over your broadband connection if security is a concern to you.  In addition, with the implimentation of Broadband, you can create a VPN so that you can access all of your network operations remotely.  Telecommuters can now have access to your Exchange calendar and internal E-Mail systems.  Contact us today for details on how broadband can help your business become more successful.
